SASO inspires and mobilizes
boys and their mothers
to provide service and leadership that positively impacts the local communities.
Membership drive will open on 5/1 for the 2025-26 SASO year.
The application will be available on our website starting 5/1 for renewing members and 5/15 for new members.
Please help us spread the word and invite your friends to join us!
New members, welcome!
Please review our top 10 guidelines below.
When you apply for membership, you can order your lanyards for mom and son(s) right on the application. It will be a separate line item under membership.
Once membership closes, you will receive a 'welcome email' with instructions on how to create a Membership Toolkit account and invite your son(s) to create their own accounts. Once you have a login, you and your son will be able to view and signup for opportunities.
If you have an interest in joining the board, please get in touch. We would love to welcome new members/freshmen moms into roles. Please consider joining!
Returning members, thanks for supporting SASO!

Top 10 SASO guidelines:
- SASO year starts 6/1 and ends 5/31 of following year. Access to membership application begins 5/1.
- Download the membership toolkit app from the app store.
- SASO t-shirts or lanyards must be worn to all volunteer events. Lanyards are purchased through membership application.
- PVSA applications will be accepted from 6/1-9/30. Please check the PVSA tab for more information.
- Check website/app for new events often! Please read our email updates too.
- PLEASE do your best to sign up for events that you are committing to attending. Our philanthropies rely on us for help, and last-minute cancellations leave everyone scrambling. If something unexpected (like an illness) comes up, please try to find a replacement. If you are unable to find someone, and you can't make the event, email the SASO contact, giving as much notice as possible. Also copy sasoboysmembership@gmail.com.
- After completing an event, record your son's hours. Mothers don't need to record hours. See quick link in box on right side of home page called "Record My Events"
- Mothers and sons must participate together in 3 SASO sponsored events to be eligible for renewal. After you've completed 3 events together, boys are welcome to volunteer under another mother's supervision.
- Follow, prioritize us on Facebook (facebook.com/saso.ct)
- We saved the best for last! Review the SASO Member Checklist. Check out our FAQs.
EVENT SIGNUP TIPS:
Please review all links on events page! Events are added frequently while links may look the same.
- "Event Listing" contains a listing of one-time events, which are updated regularly
- "Event Listing" also includes recurring opportunities, which are listed by philanthropy
- There will be a green check mark next to events where you've signed up to volunteer
- Some events will require you to sign up on both the SASO website and the participating philanthropy's sign-up sheet. You will see when this is needed in event description. Please read all event info carefully and follow instructions given.
Thank you for your support of SASO and we look forward to volunteering together!
